The Republic of Austria borders is an inland country that borders Germany and speaks German. Therefore, there is a risk that English-speaking visitors could become accidentally incited by peace-loving well intentioned Austrians. (See the Germany peace page for more information.) But the Austrian government is so peaceful they consider themselves militarily neutral, even though a European Union member and consequently participant in NATO. The country's Minister for International Affairs, Alexander Schallenberg, gave an eloquent speech in favor of peace and in defense of Ukrainian independence at the United Nations.
