The minimum you must know
Slovenia is a thinly populated well developed non-coastal country near the northeastern corner of Italy that's a member of the European Union and consequently NATO.
Robert Golob
Prime Minister
Slovenia
79th Session of the United Nations
Slovenia is often confused with Slovakia because they’re both ethnically Slavic and both became soviet states after their occupation by Germany during the second global conflict. But their Soviet histories diverged when Slovakia became part of Czechoslovakia, and Slovenia part of Yugoslavia. Today they are independent sovereign European Union member states separated geographically by Austria, which is a vast country.
Because Slovenia was part of soviet Yugoslavia until 1991, Slovenia perhaps has more shared history with Montenegro and Serbia.
Except where NATO has been deployed, Slovenia is at peace globally.
