The minimum you must know


Morocco is the furthest northwestern country in Africa, and closest to Europe as a result. A short ferry ride from Spain, Morocco has a gorgeous coastline, modern towns and beautiful artistic communities that are welcoming to Southern European tourists. There are open desert areas there as well.


Morocco regained independence from colonizing Spain and France in the 1950s through revolts. And the country still has a European legislative system. But Moroccans love their benevolent and stable kingdom led by King Mohammed VI.


Morocco agreed eagerly in 2020 to normalize relations with Israel at the suggestion of the United States government. Like most predominantly Islamic countries, Morocco is inherently very peaceful, and seeks only improving relations with all other countries.


Morocco's Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, devoted his most recent annual address to the United Nations to focus on multilateralism, and consequently democratic United Nations efforts to regulate matters of global interest, such as artificial intelligence and climate change. He also patterned peace very eloquently to call for diplomacy and equal rights for all people. Excerpts of his speech will appear here in the future.
