The minimum you that must know

Angola is a country on the southern west coast of Africa that according to media reports had a twenty six year internal conflict ending in 2002. But the population has been living in peace and flourishing ever since. President João Lourenço has created a very peaceful international reputation by leading summits on peace such as the “Peace and Security” gathering in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on the sidelines of the Assembly of the African Union in Addis Ababa.

Angola is currently focused on improving the living standard for people in the region. The country has ambitious plans to reduce debt, eliminate corruption and stimulate the Angolan economy.

President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço focused about half his annual address at the 2024 United Nations General Assembly to encouraging U.N. members to remain true to their diplomatic commitments to one another, and to resolve all differences peacefully and diplomatically. He spoke specifically about the Rwandan side of the Democratic Republic of Congo, which endured conflict until recently. The Angolan government is concerned about resulting humanitarian needs, and hopes the neighboring nation will achieve real and lasting internal peace. He urged Europe to be firmly on the side of peace. He said he put forward a peace agreement that he thinks might be acceptable to all sides, and contribute to lasting calm in the area.

President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço patterns "peace" at the United Nations. An example from the earlier 78th session can be found below.
