The minimum you must know

Mexico is situated between the United States of America and Guatemala, and has phenomenal trading relations with the United States. But fascinatingly Mexico hasn’t closely aligned with the United States. Mexico hasn’t joined the U.S. led NATO security alliance, for instance. Mexico’s southern border with Guatemala is only five hundred miles long. Its northern border with the United States is over two thousand. Therefore, the United States and Mexico could easily work together to secure the shorter distance along Mexico’s southern border to prevent uncontrolled impoverished migration from South America. But the United States has preferred instead to unilaterally secure our two thousand mile border with Mexico at far greater expense. The goal is to trap migrants in Mexico in order to prevent unlimited immigration into the U.S. The United States has attributed a decade long bipartisan attitude of restrictiveness towards Mexico to lawlessness and narcotics trade that the U.S. says originates in Mexico. This author wonders if Mexico is far safer than people in the United States think. Maybe Americans can should become convinced of that. Even Republican Presidential Nominee and former President Donald Trump - who sometimes speaks about tough trade negotiations - couldn’t help revealing, "I love Mexicans. They're great people.”

Mexico absolutely has the possibility of aligning with the United States in the future. Towards that end, the President of Mexico reportedly said on a phone call with President Trump that she wants to keep the borders open, and halt migrants by helping them even more in Mexico. President Trump in turn is expected to keep trade wide open with Mexico but set tariff levels at 25%. He believes tariffs can quell the massive immigration flowing into the U.S. from Mexico. "We’re subsidizing Mexico for almost $300 billion," President Trump said. “…if we're going to subsidize them, let them become a state.” Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum responded, "Mexican America, that sounds nice.” President Trump couldn’t have hoped for a better response than that. There’s clearly a very friendly relationship developing.

There is a much better relationship between U.S. and Mexican security personnel now than existed during previous administrations. There are obviously opportunities for the countries to let go of the past and work together much more cooperatively.

The United States and Mexico work well together on security sometimes. And U.S. citizens love Mexico. The nation is gorgeous and rapidly developing with exquisite coastlines and continuously expanding modern cities. U.S. tourists regularly vacation in magnificent seaside resorts that are popular with people of all ages, including college students who attend Spring Breaks there.

This author wonders if the countries might someday fully unify, and hopes for a completely cooperative relationship between the Mexican and U.S. governments regardless of the future.

Although the U.S. - Mexican border is increasingly restricted, trading across it isn’t at all - nor should it be. The wide open trading relationship is very beneficial to North America. Both Canada and the United States gain far lower consumer prices and greatly reduced inflation by manufacturing there. The United States and Mexican governments also gain revenue from trade tariffs. The United States also can benefit from helping Mexico to reduce their immigration burden by ensuring there are job opportunities available there, especially after the U.S. reaches its own employment objectives.

The Mexican and United States governments have traditionally enjoyed very friendly relations and do today. Mexico is at peace globally, and seeks improving relations with all nations.
