The minimum you must know

Argentina is second largest country in Latin America and the eighth largest in the world. It’s situated a short distance from the South Pole at the southernmost coast of the continent. Therefore, the country is far enough from international conflicts to stay entirely militarily uninvolved. Argentina is focused internally on economic development, and externally on freedom, unrestricted trade and the environment in the arctic.

President Javier Gerardo Milei is President Donald Trump’s favorite leader. They have tremendous charisma in common. President Miles has given passionate speeches portraying himself as a staunch defender of equality and freedom, including for both freedom of expression and freedom of trade. He was an economist before taking office, and views trade as paramountly important to global freedom. Consequently, he used his late 2024 United Nations address to promise that Argentina won't restrict trade for foreign populations.

President Milei has recommitted Argentina to a very peaceful agreement for Antarctica. Argentina deterred well and then ordered their Minister of Foreign Affairs, Daniel Filmus, to host a video conference in 2024 with the Executive Secretary of the Antarctic Treaty, Albert Lluberas. According to Filmus on that call, “Argentina maintains a firm commitment to peace and international scientific cooperation in the white continent within the framework of the Antarctic Treaty, signed by our country in 1959.” Argentina insists other countries do the same.

Argentina is traditionally a non-NATO security alliance for the United States. Argentina is at peace with all other countries.
