The minimum you must know

Uruguay is a thinly populated coastal country in Latin American between Argentina and Brazil. The capital is Montevideo. The country was controlled by Spain for over a century until guerrilla conflicts in the 1960s and 1970s resulted in a coup, which installed a leader who remained in office until 1985. Today the country is considered fully democratic.
