The minimum you must know
Uzbekistan is one of the only two "doubly landlocked" countries on earth, after Liechtenstein. Predominantly Islamic and located in central Asia, the languages most spoken there - in order of importance - are Uzbek, Russian and Tajik. Half the country is under thirty years old. Their socialist economy is successfully becoming capitalist as the government gradually reduces its economic support for the people, who provide important labor and raw materials to the clothing industry, among other international industries. The economy is growing quickly enough for the population to support themselves well.
Uzbekistan has advanced diplomacy at the United Nations, who are mostly focused on safe advancement of technology. They want responsible development of artificial intelligence. They also seek global cooperation on climate change. They are hosting a UNESCO meeting to build peace, eradicate poverty and drive sustainable development globally. And Uzbekistan is hosting a meeting on social protection for United Nations countries, and has formed a Social Protection Agency to empower women and girls, and ensuring their gender equality.
Uzbekistan shares a small part of its border with Afghanistan but is investing a disproportionate amount in trains between the countries. The government seeks peace for the population there and hopes the global community will continue to support their economic development. The country mostly borders Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
